In linguistic terms, “ancestors” refers to grandparents. Ancestral broiler chickens are the final generation produce chickens whose product is their meat. In the poultry production chain, ancestral chickens come after line chickens. Line and ancestral chickens are used for industrial chicken meat production because the desired traits of each breed are transferred to the final product (broiler or layer chicks) through genetic crossbreeding.
In the early years of our complex, MAM Broiler Integration worked with four ancestral flock lines, focusing on producing ancestral mother hen chicks. At that time, the main production calculation for ancestral chicks based on the capacity of line D was approximately 15,000 pieces per year.
